Not everyone would look good bald, but for Kuro Karatsu in Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service, having the bald look definitely fits his drawn face. Reading this series sporadically, I really can’t imagine his look as any other, though there is his spirit, Yaichi who becomes a constant spiritual companion who makes up for any lost locks that Kuro would have had.
Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service is a series for the most part that had a Whodunit type of procedural story most seen in one of my favored television series, CSI. Reading this series also combines in Japanese horror, which I am personally not a fan of, but under the cloud of the manga series, then I would willingly read through it.
Nearly every chapter or chapters there is a corpse and the cast of characters would have to resolve the corpses’s last wish. The cast of characters would seek out corpses for which they have special powers in communicating with the dead. They would initially try to earn money out of helping the corpse, but eventually it becomes a volunteer job. Some of the corpses have quite the far fetched desires ie: taken back to another country, others I have actually cried for ie: Sasaki’s past story with revenge.
There’s not a lot of other read alikes to this ongoing series, but Zombie Loan and Natsumi’s Book of Friends are similar in mention of the supernatural, and a willing to assist the non-humans or spirits. Though Zombie Loan shares more similar aspects to Kurosagi Corpse, in there being a group and unknown reasons that probably won’t be revealed until a lot later.
Now back to the aspect of being bald is beautiful, yes… it is not a look at anyone can have, and there’s enough jokes about it, such as bald as an eggshell, a blinding sensation looking at a person’s bald head. (These jokes I think about when I stare at Bleach’s Ikkaku Madarame.)
In real life as well, for men and woman who are bald, wear it with pride. It brings out the features of looking at a person’s eyes and definitely sets apart an individual among a crowd of others of people with hair. Don’t be ashamed to have a bald head.
